ELENA MIRELES-HILL (SHE/HER/ELLA)

OWNER & PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT

Elena is a Chicana visionary, strategist, culture builder, facilitator, an ICF (International Coach Federation) certified professional coach, and mama. Elena is the owner and principal consultant of Liberación Consulting LLC. During her 17-year journey in the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors, she’s been active in advancing equitable leadership development, organizational capacity building, institutional organizing and ministry at local, state and national levels. Elena believes relationships, healing and power building are influential in advancing a liberated community.

MORE ABOUT ELENA

As a daughter and granddaughter of Mexican migrant farm workers, Elena holds closely her responsibility to integrate the wisdom of her ancestors and to bring healing and liberation for future generations. Elena is a founder of ELLAS (Empowering Latina Leaders and Advocates for Success) – a network and leadership development program focused on elevating Latina leaders in Southwest Michigan. Elena served as Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Kalamazoo Community Foundation. While there, she led efforts to increase equitable grantmaking in communities of color and to establish the first Anti-Racist Transformation Team at the foundation—being the first philanthropic institution in the country to have such a team under this model.

Elena has served as a racial healing practitioner with Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation (TRHT) and has provided leadership on various committees serving to increase more equitable strategies, relationships, and accountability in communities of color in the sectors of education, health, and philanthropy. Elena's ICF coaching certification was completed through Blooming Willow Coaching & Training. She is also an alumna of the Hispanics in Philanthropy national fellowship program and has a dual master’s in social work and pastoral ministry from Boston College.

Elena is most passionate about working with individuals and groups to get clear on what they most value and foster greater alignment and conditions towards those ends. She gets energized about fostering spaces of collective care that center our relationships, wholeness, and humanity in our work for change. Her work engages creative facilitation, healing practices, racial equity and justice frameworks, and relational leadership development principles. When not engaged in community work, she loves traveling, dancing, meditation, spending time with loved ones, and adventuring in her hometown San Francisco-especially with her loves Bryan and Mateo.

VALUES

INTEGRITY
RELATIONSHIP CENTERED
GROWTH ORIENTATION
IMAGINATIVE & CREATIVE
HEALING
HUMANIZING
SOCIAL &
RACIAL JUSTICE

Unwavering grounding honesty, trustworthiness, accountability, quality, dedicated inner & outer work, upholding of values, and acting in a way that honors all.

Embracing a sense of radical hospitality in relationships and embodying the wisdom of our deep interconnectedness through a commitment in centering respect, trust, compassion, love, care, and interwoven liberation. Always centering people above policy, institutions, or profit.

Orienting toward a journey of evolution: continuously learning, stretching of self, and metabolizing wisdom of new experiences and information.

Engaging in the creation process (individually and collectively) as a means toward healing and being oriented in ways that are generative, colorful, energizing, and imagining new and abundant possibilities.

Centering wholeness, restoration, and right relationship with ourselves and others as foundational to all processes of growth and change.

Engaging all aspects of our full humanity: laughter, play, joy, connection, love, art, ancestral practices, rest, grounding, heartache, and all that gives us life as essential for sustenance, sustainability, and meaning in the work of change.

Acting and loving from a place of advocacy and action centered on cultivating a more liberated and fair society: in distribution of wealth, opportunities, privileges, participation, representation, human rights, and changed conditions for the most oppressed communities: BIPOC, women, LGBTQIA, and differently abled persons.
