WHAT IS HEALING-CENTERED WORK?
What if we imagined that at the heart of our greatest social, organizational, and leadership issues were individuals and communities longing to be deeply and profoundly seen, heard, understood, and valued? What would our world look like if we held this value collectively in shaping how we lead, prioritize resources, and in how we live into our callings? If we were grounded from a commitment to collective care and generativity for all of us, what would this allow us to do as result?
DEIB and justice work have been so difficult in our organizations and movements because relationships and change are hard. Institutions and communities are made up of complex people, politics, and histories. Our realities are products of over 400 years of slavery, colonization, oppressive systems, policies, and abuses of power. We all bring biases, socialization, and traumas that don’t allow us to be in right relationship with ourselves and with one another.
As such, we have forgotten our deep interconnectedness. We have forgotten that in the collective lies our greatest hope, joy, and strength. We have forgotten to imagine. And all too often, in our fight for change, we have acted out of our pain and not our wholeness. My work prioritizes unveiling of what is getting in the way of our true nature as a means to imagine, create, and embody new liberatory realities.
